Love my MIM Strat! There is soooooo much you can do to them, both tone and aesthetic! As for a amp, a nice solid state Fender amp will give ya super clean tones that you can add a pedal to easily. I got a Fender Frontman 25, 25W 10in speaker 2 channel and a real spring reverb (yes there is a difference!) you can play with headphones and plug in a iPod for backing tracks.....all for US$100! Good luck, lots of choices for you out there!

Yep, do it and you will not regret it in the long run. It so much easier on your hands since there is less tension. I adapted to an electric in a few hours and instantly liked it because it was so easy to play compared to any acoustic. Also 24 frets is always a win.

And playing by ear is the best, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
