Default Composite acoustic OX & K&K pickup advise please.

I am thinking about ordering a CA OX without any electronics and then installing a K&K Pure Mini.
My question is, will the underside of the bridge plate be smooth enough for the contacts? Any Ox owners out there?

I would be careful based on the problems people on the forum had installing K&K on cargos and getting a balanced sound....

Thanks, good to know. Hoping for more feedback. Not a big fan of the electronics that come on this model.

I bought my concert series parlor sans e and had K&K installed. Very happy with it. Sounds wonderful, almost as good as the K&K in my 000ec. I have LR bags lyric in my 00 and fishman in the martin dread. I favor the sound of the K&K. for the rainsong I really don't want batteries and junk inside.

The guys that installed it at 12th fret in Portland said the guitar was just fine for installation.

I thought I saw somewhere that Rainsong might install K&K now. Might be worth checking with Dave at their customer support. I bugged him a little bit about doing it for me a year ago.

I take it then that the underside is smooth enough for good contact? Did you have to make any mods to make it work or basic K&K instalation.

I know Emerald talked about preparing a flat surface?

Yes, that's what got me thinking. If Emerald needs to know ahead of time if a K&k is being used so they can prepare the surface, then I would assume the same for other manufacturers?

So much is made about getting away from undersaddles and I get that I have a K&K on my best wood guitar. But I recently saw Jason Isabel go over his rig, fishman undersaddle through aura spectrum preamp. He sounds awesome and he knows a ton about guitars. I've put my JM-1000 through a AURA and it sound pretty darn good.

The OX should not need any mods to accept the K&K. Any qualified luthier should be able to handle it for you.

I think I sanded lightly first... but that was years ago and I was just a kid so don't remember... I recorded it in my very first youtube and it was plugged in.

Any particular reason you want to go for the K&K? CA has the Aura system as an upgrade option and that is one awesome pickup! I had two guitars with Aura and they are great for live performance and even for direct recording.

When I looked at Rainsong's website yesterday (thinking about one of the new Parlors) the options were:

Pure Acoustic
LR Baggs Element
K&K Pure Mini
LR Baggs Anthem

They are pricing the K&K higher than the Element though, so it's probably considerably cheaper to just have your local tech install one. (mine charges half as much for a K&K compared to an undersadle)

I really don't get the love this forum has for the K&K. It certainly sounds good, but I hate having to haul around a bunch of extra external crap to make it do so. I put one in my Rainsong, and if I had to do it again I would spend the extra for a Fishman Matrix Infinity.
