I have one of those La Patrie Etude classical guitars. It was quite inexpensive and it sounds good and plays quite nicely. If you care to take a listen to a few notes it is used in a bit of a refrain in this song (at about 1:05):

...not played in a busy way-just used for flavour. The background harmonics (sounds like bells) are also the Etude.

No your standards aren't low. As one comment stated: "thats sounds perfect. I love that fugue from bach. they are only jealous. dont worry". You're always gonna have those men who can't stand to see (or hear) a woman who can play better. I listen to the masters and believe me, Ana is fantastic. She's coming to Portland next March and its my goal to be there. I love her. What more could a man want but a beautiful woman who plays guitar?

I love my Lucida Concerto LG-777 , i have compared it to many instruments in the plus 2000 range , and still think its a better sounding guitar than most , all solid wood - it is everything they say it is -- think mine was 600 , i upgraded the case from the seller to a vintage style case ( for another 25 bucks ) and i also upgraded the tuners with schallers from lmii ( which i did myself )- the tuners that came with it were not bad and typical of ones found on 2000 plus guitars , but the guitar has such a nice sound it deserved better tuners.

Thanks for the mean guitar compliment. Buenos tardes amigo.

Buying a classical? Two important things....

1. Take a chromatic tuner and check out the intonation on every string

2. Play every fret on every string to see if there are dead spots on the fretboard

Thanks for all the information. Looks like many recommendations. I'll be using it for folk, blues, ragtime, etc. I write songs with elements from all of the above, and a few classical elements. I've been inspired by L. Cohen, Nick Drake, and Julian Bream.

My budget is about 2 grand. The esteban probably sounded good because it was really the only nylon string I ever played. Also it was easy to play and handle I recall.

If that info adds anything please let me know.

Thanks!

Steven
