Default De Jonge OM - Spruce/Pomelle Sapele SOLD

Here's a 2009 Sergei De Jonge OM, bearclaw sitka top with incredible pomelle sapele back and sides. I'm cutting the price to SOLD shipped to CONUS (buyer pays transaction fees if any. PayPal accepted).

I've owned this beautiful De Jonge for 20 months or so. The photos here are from the previous seller (with his permission). I'm happy to respond to inquiries with additional photos. There's really no additional wear on the guitar.

Not only is it the most beautiful instrument I've owned, but among the best sounding. Sergei builds these models by hand, inspired by prewar Martins but with some modern touches.

It's a very balanced and versatile instrument with a great midrange bloom and perfect intonation. The neck is a comfortable C and the nut width is 1 3/4. The french polish lets the top shine, tonally and aesthetically. The guitar has no issues, dings or cracks, and is currently set up for fingerstyle, though it can handle a pick with ease and strums well too.

The woods are just mesmerizing. Sapele shares the woody tone, strong fundamentals and immediacy of mahogany, and the notes shimmer too.

Sergei installed a very discreet K&K pickup, which sounds extremely natural. A newbuild with similar (upgraded) woods would cost more than $8k - this one sounds better than new. It's been played gently and has opened up beautifully. Bindings and headstock overlay in bubinga.

The guitar has always been kept in a humidity-controlled instrument cabinet and hasn't left my home. It comes with a TKL hard case.

Located in NYC. Thanks for looking!

Quilted or not, Sapele makes a really fine sounding guitar. Rich and resonant.

Saddle spacing is 2 3/16. Thanks for the good words and early interest. I'm going to see how this fares as a straight sale before considering a trade.

I would miss this one a lot, come to think of it. A stellar and versatile OM. Somehow the tuners are the smoothest I've ever encountered too. For anyone curious, I bought the guitar from a forumite here, have done a few transactions here and on the Martin (UMGF) forum.

Default PRICE REDUCTION - $3,900

Price reduction bump - offered with a 72-hour trial period. I think a buyer will fall in love with this one. Full refund minus shipping costs if not.
