Nice performance!
..Villalobos studies are the measure of a guitarists technique. |

True. And you can throw Paganini's Caprices on there as well! Kidding of course... though I love the pure technical mastery of Fisk's rendition of the Paganini violin works, I find them lacking in any warmth or "meat". |

holy mack.. I remember having to learn that way back when.. I don't think I ever did.. it just bored the heck out of me... just not my style .. its beautiful.. but just not my cup of tea... I'm sure I still have the original sheet music laying around somewhere..

If Michael's superb technique, joyful expression, and creativity are in any way the result of that ugly masterclass experience he had with Segovia way back when, then I only wish Segovia had been a cranky wank to me too.
I could listen to Michael Chapdelaine's music all day long. He's an uncommonly brilliant guitarist. |

Personally... that's pretty much what I said.
Technically, they don't get much better. But music is so much more than technical ability. |

Villa-Lobos & Paganinni
Just a suggestion: check out Alvaro Pierri's Villa-Lobos album: Villa-Lobos: Choros No.1/Etude Nos. 1-12/Prelude Nos. 1-5
and his duet album with Angele Dubeau: Paganini - De Falla - Piazzolla works for violin and guitar. - Joe Frame
