Merely recording the same signal to 2 channels will never result in stereo. There are hardware and software processors that will emulate it but the none of those sound quite "right."

I agree, in fact I would go so far as to say, offering up "stereo recording" as the one and only "holy grail" of acoustic guitar recording, is a bit tunnel visioned. For me If it sounds good, it sounds "good" which is of course subjective.

Well, I did some test recordings last night. I was under the impression that stereo recording with 2 mic's should be done with two of the same mic's, but it was suggested that I try what I had . . . so I did. My first two mic recording of my guitar was an astonishing eye opener! Wow. I didn't think my SM57 was worthy of the task, but I adjusted the mixer until it was somewhat close to my MXL condenser. That's the full rich sound I wanted to get. I can never go back now : )
