Default Northwood R70 Short-Scale, Deep-Body OOO - Near Mint! SOLD

SOLD - thanks everybody! Beautiful John McQuarrie Northwood R70 short scale, deep body OOO in Engelmann over EIR for sale. This is the last of several Northwoods I've owned and one I would have really liked to hang onto, but circumstances have dictated otherwise. John's guitars may not be the most expensive or ornate, but they are consistently flat-out tone monsters, as good as anything at any price, and this one is no exception.

The premium Engelmann top is as silky and creamy as they come, with all the warm, rich, shimmering overtones that Engelmann is known for, but plenty of headroom and punch when you want to dig in. The body is deep, chocolatey, straight-grain EIR with a 4 5/8" depth at the tail as opposed to the usual 4 1/8", which contributes to the big, rich tone. There is a Schatten HFN passive pickup professionally installed, my favorite pickup for clarity without quack. Action, intonation, and playability are top-notch everywhere up and down the fretboard.

The specs are: 1.75" nut, 24.9" scale, 15" lower bout, 11.5" upper bout, and 4.625" depth at the tail.

The guitar is in near mint condition, minus one minor impression on the top, left corner of the headstock which you can barely pick out in picture #5. It will be shipped in its original, hard-shell case.

The price is $xxxx shipped anywhere in the continental US. Any PayPal or similar fees are on you. As always, thanks for looking!

Seems like a great deal - any idea what year it was built?

What is the action height of the 1st and 6th string at the 12th fret?

Thank you,
Warren

Hi all. Yes, I'm in Oregon. I just got in and it's late, so I'll measure the action and get back to you tomorrow, Warren. Sorry, I don't know the build year. I'm the second owner and I never asked.

Hi folks.

Thanks for your inquiries and sorry for the slightly slow reply. It's a very busy time here right now. I've had a couple of offers, but haven't closed the sale yet, so I'll try to respond to all of the questions so far and include a couple pictures of the action at the 12th fret..

The action appears to be right at standard for an acoustic guitar, a hair under 2mm on the treble side and 2.3 to 2.4mm on the bass. I lost my Stew Mac measuring tool, so I had to go by my ruler as you see in the pictures which makes it a bit tougher to be exact. The action is excellent in any case.

The serial number is 153207

Not interested in trades.
