Default Fishman SA220 vs Line 6 Stagesource L2T

My first post:

I'm a mellow fingerpicker, James Taylor wannabe (mellow 60's-70's folksy troubadour) who usually uses a Fishman Loudbox Artist for bar/coffeehouse with small stage and room for 20-100 people. I have a gig at a place that requires a louder and better system.

Last week I played with the popular Fishman SA220 and the difference was incredible. I felt like a rockstar. I'm about to buy the SA220 but I'm hearing very good and reliable recommendations about the Line 6 Stagesource L2T. Where I live its rural and I'm not able to try them side by side.

Question: DOES ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE COMPARING THE TWO, specifically the SA220 to the Stagesource Line 6 L2T for a folksy fingerpicker like myself. All I want is to plug in my Taylor guitars and sing, no big add ons.

Last note, for some reason my old 94 Taylor 712 with standard added electronics sounded WAY better than my new 2014 Taylor 812 with the ES2 system, still trying to figure that on out!

I've had a Fishman SoloAmp and it was good. I now have a Line 6 L2t and it's better. The Line 6 L2t is somewhat heavier but has an optional rolling gig bag. I put it on an Ultimate Speaker Stand. Both these systems are comparatively priced but the the Line 6 L2t is more powerful and also has many I/O options and it's built like a tank!

Regards,

I used a Fishman SoloAmp for several years and quickly sold it after having the Line 6 L2t a couple months.

The line 6 is heavy but the sound and power make it worth it for me. I use an old luggage cart to carry it around so it's not too bad.

Does the L2T have any digital processing or is it a clear unprocessed sound?

It has special processing on channel 1 for an acoustic guitar, and reverb on both channels.

A couple of questions: 1. How does the Line 6 compare to a QSC K10? and, 2. I had read some time back that some folks were having reliability issues with their Line 6? Not an issue with the L2T?

There was a rattling fan issue that has been resolved.

I haven't had any issues from my Line 6 L2t. Thankfully

Just wish I would have bought a protective bag for it. It is showing a lot of wear and tear from less than a years use. I use it for some solo gigs and as a powered monitor when playing with the band.

I had a pair of QSC K10 Active Speakers and they were decent but IMHO sounded kind of sterile and not musical to me. I sold them. Currently, I have one Line 6 L2t and find it sounds more musical (warmer) than a QSC K10. The Line 6 L2t also has a decent built-in mixer with three-band EQ that includes a sweepable midrange, a reverb, a chorus, and, as mentioned in another post, an acoustic-guitar modeling effect on channel 1, which I don't use but its supposedly good for fleshing-out the tone of some acoustic guitars with a UST or an electric guitar with a piezo bridge pickup system.

As mentioned, it wasn't a reliabilty issue with the Line 6 L2t but an issue with the cooling fan making some audible noise when hitting certain notes on a guitar or bass. I've never had an issue with the cooling fan making noise but I don't push the system real hard. Per Sweetwater, the cooling-fan noise issue was limited to a small batch of Line 6 L2t speakers.

Appreciate the review/answers... "sterile" is a good word to describe it, I had been using "brittle"... although I will say the room has a lot to do with my perception of the sound quality. I purchased the k10 to add to the SA220 when I needed more coverage. Does a decent job at moderate SPL, but I've found it better to use as a floor monitor... yeah, I know, overkill.

I own two SSA220's that I run from an Allen Heath ZED mixer. They sound great! I also have a Line 6 L3T, that i use as a stand alone system, or as a powered monitor when with a band. The L3T sounds great too.

I would find it difficult to choose one over the other. There are some pros and cons to each, which has already been covered. What I will tell you is this........ You won't regret your decision either way.
