Great song choice, excellent execution. I also like you comments and explanations -- the personal touch about why you choose your songs and some of the musicography behind the song itself. Adds colorful context to the song and the choice of song and how you choose to perform it.

Hi SunnyDee,

Thank you for your comments and for listening! I'm glad you enjoyed this.

And your interpretation of Don McLean's lyrics might well be correct. I did a google search and the results turned up something very similar to your interpretation: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/i...5075645AAky6i5

I was taking the English language fairly literally, where the word, "for" is a substitute for the word, "because." In that case, he would have been suffering because of his insanity, rather than suffering because of his sanity. I suppose that's the problem with language; it can be rather inexact, and the meaning can change for people in different parts of the country, let alone from one country to another.

Either way, I used Don McLean's words for the song, even if I was unsure about his language usage. So I guess I was at least safe there. I should have probably done a google search on that term "suffer for your sanity" first.

Thank you Rich! How nice to hear from you!

I do agree, that 12-fret spruce/rosewood Martin has a really nice sound for a song like this!

Hi JimmyJeff,

I'm so glad! You know, "Vincent" might be my own favorite of the recordings I have done, as well! I'm so glad you liked what I did!

Glenn,
Thanks so much to you and your wife for taking the time to tour my website. I appreciate your kind comments. I feel truly blessed to be able to be able to pursue my passion. I found it especially interesting that you both grew up not far from here, and that you know where Grayling is. I recently returned from a fly fishing trip on the beautiful Au Sable river, near there.

Is there a site that features your wife's paintings/drawings? I always enjoy seeing other artists' work.

I'll look forward to your next song offering.

Roger

Hi Roger,

Yes, we greatly enjoyed touring your website! Wonderful work there!

My wife does not have her artwork on the Internet anywhere. She has spent most of her life being a mother of 3 children, a 2nd grade school teacher, and running our music business of the past, but every once in while she churns out something special to put on the walls.

Thank you, too, for your kind support of the music I have put up here on the AGF.

Thanks for your thoughts, Rick!

I did enjoy playing that song, emotions and all. It's always a puzzle, putting a song together with complex lyrics and detailed playing like this.

I appreciate your listening and commenting, Rick!
