Default Chords for this song?

I can't seem to find it. And when I try to find them myself I just fail, I think it's an alternative tuning though I'm not sure. Maybe he's already tuned down 1 whole step and use the capo to get back up. Anyway.
Much help would be appreciated. His songs are very good and have alternative picking/strumming patterns which I find pretty unique, tho' it's almost impossible to find chords and tabs to his songs online.

Tune to open D. Capo 2nd fret and you have open E. The rest is easy. The fingering is right there on the video. Just forget about the chord names for the moment.

I know that, as I said I think that's what he's doing. The problem is the fingering, I can't seem to make it out

No, you did not say what the tuning was. Regarding fingering, watch the video and listen.

You are missing rick-slo's point about starting with Open D Tuning, which is not the same thing as standard tuning detuned a whole step! - D A D F# A D vs D G C F A D.
