I really like the darker HRW, but either one will look awesome on that cedar top!

Thanks for the vote. I really liked the dark if it looked a little bit lighter like in the first picture with naphtha, but when on the top, it started to resemble ebony. I just couldn't picture that dark a grain for purfling in the end, though the richness is great.

Instead we'll use the dark HRW for binding the soundhole and the thin outer ring. That way we get both shades of HRW in there.

I'm going to have a really hard time choosing out the binding I think.

And here is a shot of the rosette inlay and back center inlay done. I think it looks great!

The dark HRW outer line and binding around the soundhole match the back and sides (same cut of wood), and the blue paua is stunning. Can't wait to start selecting binding options.

It looks fantastic, remarkably similar to your photoshop mockup. If that is what you wanted, you certainly got it!!! Congrats

Thanks Tom. It's definitely great! Drew has had some great input in getting me to rethink what I wanted. Definitely been a blast working with him so far. I think he actually outdid my Photoshop mockup!

Now it's time to choose some binding options. Drew started with 4 options, though I asked for a couple of darker options too. I am starting to think koa, but wanted to see what ebony and a dark wood look like too. The 4 options in order from darkest to lightest: dark HRW, lighter HRW, koa, and maple.

A few more binding options. In order--ebony, cocobolo, and a reverse of the HRW (dark HRW purfling and light HRW binding):

I'm still leaning koa unless Drew has some other options that are similar to the koa.

I'm seeing the same thing you are I think... the koa really pops compared to all of the other choices. I do like the cocobolo as well, but if it were me based on these choices I'd definitely go with the koa.

Ditto--the koa would be my first choice followed closely by the cocobolo.

Exactly, what he said! The Koa is perfect IMO

3 more options came in from Drew (Did I say I love working with him?), and they are Black walnut and Peruvian walnut. Ironically the Peruvian is the darker one despite the name. And then figured mahogany, which he's never used as binding.

Thanks all, that's the way I'm leaning right now. The finalists are black walnut, figured hog, and koa:

Well, with the new options, my vote has changed. I now think that figured Mahogany looks fantastic. I would go with that, it is really different and looks really cool.

Well there's clearly no wrong options here, but I would lean to the Koa.

Smile Koa binding!!!

WOW, already got rosette done! That was fast~

This Koa binding seems to be a subtle separation for both ways(Top and B/S). And It has a decent color there as well.

I like all 3 of your finalists, and I agree there are no bad choices. But of your final 3 I still prefer the koa, with the figured hog a close 2nd!
