Default What's your favorite soup these days?

Just had a delicious Italian seafood soup (Cacciucco) at a local Italian restaurant last night. While that is my favorite today, I realized that I have been pretty drawn to many seafood soups for years: Cioppino, boulabaise, clam chowder, etc.

Before that, I had phases of preferring French Onion Soup, and before that, potato soup and (fresh) mushroom soup. And as a youngster, Lipton Chicken Noodle soup was about the only soup I'd eat. But seafood soups and stews are my enduring favorites.

You?

We eat lunch regularly at a local sushi restaurant. There's something about their basic miso soup which is addictive - it's the best I've ever tasted. Never get tired of it.

Never been a big fan of French Onion, but I love creamy fish chowders of just about any variety. My wife makes a beauty using freshwater fish such as trout or whitefish.

A local place has a great jalapeno crawfish chowder.

Boston Chowda Company's New England Clam Chowda. I usually fortify it with some poached cod or whiting and serve with a salad.

If it's homemade I enjoy a nice frico, i.e. a stew based on potato dumplings and chicken.

When I’m craving soup, it’s always a hard decision If to go for Japanese ramen or Vietnamese pho. Korean Jook Gae Jang or Kim Chee soup also hits the spot, or Thai Tom Yum. Really, the Asians got the soup thing down, the western world doesn’t come close!

My choice is Lobster Bisque, although I only have had some a few times over the past several decades......

My wife makes a killer spicy cheesy potato soup with potatoes, celery and carrots.
I also like and in no particular order:
Tomato Bisque
Lobster Bisque
Manhattan Clam Chowder (hard to find)
Spicy Chicken Tortilla
...and a Thai spicy, lemon noodle and dumpling soup ...yummy
