jfgesquire..I have used Seaguar 80lb test for a G string, 60lb for a B and 50lb for a high E on 3 different guitars. The strings seem to intonate on all three about as well as any good nylon strings on the same guitars. The saddles are not specially intonated.

Nylon G String
I recommend a Savarez G string. I personally like the alliance. Experiment...it’s fun!

It's tiresome, going for the perfect string(s), hoping to conclude the trials in a couple of weeks. What is this, my fifth month? The following Savarez have shone across multiple guitars of varying wood combinations, even one carbon, and since I'm a low to very low tuner, any string that resists tubbiness, is a heck of a string. In that regard, Savarez 500 CRJ Corum New Cristal Mixed - ST New Cristal trebles, HT Corum basses - and - Savarez 500 AJ HT Alliance trebles, Corum basses have been the most impressive.

I'm a big fan of the Savarez Cantiga normal tension basses. I like the feeling of the alliance trebles, but there's a ping to the tone of them. Especially the 1st string.
My latest concoction is to match the Savarez Cantiga basses with the Oasis carbon treble normal tension strings. The Oasis trebles balance quite nicely with the bass strings on both my spruce top and my cedar top guitars. Fortunately, strings by mail (AGF sponsor) sells them separately. So my latest orders have been for Savarez Cantiga basses & Oasis carbon trebles. Dave

I would recommend that the OP try the Dogal Diamanté trebles, in strong tension. They are carbon/nylon hybrid. They sound round, like nylon but with the clarity and brightness of carbon. The G string is thicker, like nylon, isn’t tubby sounding, and should work well on a compensated G saddle. I currently use them with Savarez med tension Cantiga basses.

Best G string
I use Savarez Alliance 543 J with D’Adarrio hard tension composite core strings. It may not be the best, but it has been the best for me for the last 10 years without any issues.

I’ve been using a Knobloch CX Active Carbon med-hi tension for my 3rd.
