Doyle's "Jazz In The Box". It took awhile to get down his speed but it is a great song. I am currently re-learning Clapton's "Tears In Heaven".

I've 'learned' Leo Kottke's arrangement of Little Martha, but still have a lot of work to do with speed, phrasing, smoothness - that sort of thing. Having a blast playing it though.

Well, I'm always learning 3-4 of Dykes' songs just because they push me so much further every time (I think A White Rose for Heidi is ready for recording finally!) but these past few days I've been actually getting into songs I could sing! Not that I can sing, but maybe I'll learn though... I learned Dave Matthews "Oh" and did a cool fingerstyle arrangement of Five For Fighting's "100 Years"... Basically all I did was arrange the piano for guitar, though. Ha.

I'm currently working on the Byrds' hippie paen to the menage a trois, "Triad." I think that, like every song written by David Crosby, it has interesting chord voicings.
I also love Byrd David's stoner psychobable: "Sister Lovers/Water Brothers/and in time/maybe others . . ." Last edited by DCW; 07-11-2005 at 09:58 AM. |

This past weekend I polished off an arrangement of 'Carolan's Receipt' in Orkney tuning that I've been working on for quite a while.

I'm a huge fan of Leonard Cohen! Just reworked an original version of: "All Creatures of our God and King" and continuing to write songs with my wife.
