I thought Mike christened all the Retreux Parlors. May we take it that he's abandoned the practice?

Yeah that's true. Mike lovingly refers to my guitar as "Number 1."

The label on mine has a serial number followed by the name "Aloha Koa". On the TAMCO website, you can see other examples listed under their own special monikers as well.

In my email exchanges with Mike in June, he told me that he had built 20-odd Retreux Parlors by that time and that he was afraid of running out of ideas for names in the future. Could yours be one of the new breed of nameless parlors that "feel like a number"?

I checked with Mike, and he intended on continuing the naming of the Parlors - mine is #24 by the way - but for the 20th anniversary guitars (20 years of building for Mike) he had ordered the laser engraved wood plates with the "20th Anniversary" added before he named it, and it was too late to change (before Healdsburg). So - mine may be the first released without a name.

I'm working on it!

Phil

That parlor is fantastic. I couldn't think of a more tasteful set of inlays and finishes... Unfortunately I'd be tempted to keep it in a glass box.
