simple inlay question
Hi All,
I have an '07 Collings CJ with the "MOM" inlay on the fretboard. Can anyone explain what exactly "mom" refers to? It doesn't look like the letters mom, at least to me? thanks, Dave |

Is it mis-spelt could be MOP (Mother of Pearl), Well that's how I figure it.

Where are you seeing "MOM"? Is it in Collings' literature? A spec sheet? A FS listing?
More context please.

The Mom is Bill Colling's mom's favorite inlay.
A picture is on: http://www.collingsguitars.com/Options/acoustics.html under fingerboard inlays, in case anybody is wondering. edit: Seriously. Last edited by Woodenhead; 10-01-2013 at 09:15 PM. |

Haha....thanks Woodenhead. Now I can quit worrying that I'm missing some obvious reason why! I thought it might be something like that, but had no idea what. I've seen many references to it however, even beyond Collings products. I believe Taylor's web site of custom options even has a pattern it calls "mom".
