Default Departure (Cover)

This is my rendition of Hugh Prestwood''s "Departure", as played by Michael Johnson. I taught this to myself on my classical guitar but decided to give it a go on my steel string because I thought that, along with a small bit of reverb from my amp, it would produce a more ethereal sound.

When I first heard Michael Johnson's recording of this I thought I'd never be able to get the song's signature riff that is so fundamental to the tune's nature, but after finding a video of him playing it, while not simple, it's easy to do after some practice. It's essentially a hammered-on Fmaj7 arpeggio.

The chord positions I use can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vrmvkhz1wy...rture.pdf?dl=0

Very beautiful job! I was quite drawn into your performance. Beautiful little 'riffs" in there between verses.
thanks for sharing!

Beautifully done, Paul! Lovely song and your approach is just right! And that Hoffman guitar really sounds terrific, too.
