Nicely done, Bill. I liked the improv section, as well as the improv you did on another piece. Do you have other originals?

Thanks Jeremy.

I have been doing more original stuff lately, and I suspect I'll be posting more of that in the months ahead.

Thank you again for the comment.

Very well done, Bill! Even though this was long it kept me interested right to the end. Thanks for sharing that. BTW - It's been awhile since I've seen a post by you so, I hope all is well with you and yours.

Thank you Mark and Bob.

Mark, that's a real compliment coming from a Genesis afficionado.

Bob, it's nice to be missed; I appreciate that

I love this short Genesis song, in fact the whole CD is great. So I listened with interest to this instrumental Bill and you have pulled it of - really enjoyable

Very impressive. I am going to school more on fingerstyle now, studying with a guy from a classical background. So I know how much discipline and work this stuff takes!

I think relaxation is key to really taking stuff like this to the next level. With the fingering of the left hand and the direct finger contact of the right hand, so much information is communicated. One thing that I am finding is helping me is some stuff a couple folks are coaching me about prepared stroke and even planted stroke. If you are already familiar with that, I apologize. But it is the only thoughtful contribution I can offer given the fact that this is already really coherent!

Not too big into Genesis, but maybe I'll research some Steve Hackett as the result of your post! Thanks!

Thanks Phil and Hamfist. I appreciate the comments Hamfist and advice. I tend to roll most chords which is a technique I picked up from John Fahey. Rather than plucking, rolling tends to make a wider and richer sound. There's a spectrum between a slow strum and plucking all the notes of a chord at once. One can vary the duration of any chord to do all sorts of things appropriate to the piece.

That was just beautiful! You should send a link to Steve, I am sure he'd appreciate it.

Hah, I thought about that too. I'm sort of unsure if it would past muster, but perhaps I'll try to find his contact info and send it on.

Thanks!

Nice job Bill. Very contemplative song. I hadn't heard of Steve Hackett. Thanks for the introduction. Enjoyed your playing in this one too!
