how to do with buying a decent amplifier
I am looking for a combination of clarity and power, though as they will mostly be used for
party I would prefer brightness over stupidly overwhelming amplifier. But unfortunately I know nothing about them at all so I'd need to have my hand held!If you could offer any suggestions, that would be great. If you need any more information, I would be happy to help! Hopefully YOU in this forum among us help me a bit. Thanks in advance. |

Choosing the right amp is important so, go to a music shoppe and try out as many as you can. Prices vary widely as does options such as, effects, number of channels, power, tone controls, speaker size and arrangement, weight, and versatility. Considerations include:
1. What will you be amplifying? Just one guitar? How about vocals? 2. Will you be mic'ing the guitar, plugging in a pick-up or both? 3. Do you want the option of another guitar, instrument or vocal to be plugged in along with your instrument and vocal? 4. What is the largest venue or room you will use it in? Amps and sound systems come in all sizes and price ranges so, take time to analyze your needs before you pull the trigger on a purchase!

I like Bob's needs assessment questions. Add to those:
5. What is your budget? 6. What kind of vehicle will you be carrying all this equipment in? Starting from your initial stated venue and performing environment, a P.A. system or powered speaker would be my first recommendations. Both mounted on speaker stands to get above the heads of your audiences. Parties are noisy environments and it sounds like you are not just playing background music. Ric |
