Default Check out these Cleats

Encountered this on a VERY poorly crafted classical. Just found it interesting. There wasn't a crack or anything in the top, I guess that's one way to do top reinforcement?

And yes that is a piece of a bug there in the corner of the picture.

Wowsers!!! Pretty crude.

I've actually seen perhaps worse by a local "reputable" repair shop. The main cleat of a centre seam crack on a 1961 Gibson Lg-1 (converted only half way to an lg-2) was about 2.5x1.25 inches. Why, I wonder... Why...??
