Best Laptop/Computer Interface? (Recording)
For recording, what's a good, solid, and cheap entry level hook-up for getting music to my laptop?
I'm looking at M-Audio USB 122 and M-Audio Omnistudio USB in the less than $300 range... Any experience or suggestions for stuff to consider? Help! |

I use an M-Audio MobilePre USB and I like it very much. Easy to use, easy to connect. Afforfable price.

Do you need Phantom power and mic preamps or just good solid line ins?

I have a good tube preamp and power to my mics. It's the A/D/A conversion with USB or Firewire that I think I'm looking for.

I'm using an M-Audio Firewire 410 and am very happy with it.

I use a Tascam US-122 on my laptop and an M-Audio 2496 card on my desktop units. Neither one gives me any trouble.
