Default Q regarding Swapping out gotoh open back for waverlies

I have a guitar that I want to have grained ivoroid knobs on but that’s not at option with gotoh (I don’t think).

Was considering swapping out the gotohs for waverlies but didn’t know if they share screw holes / footprint / bushing size. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to the Stew-Mac website. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and contact them with your question. I've found them to be very helpful. It's best if you know what model of Gotoh tuning machines you've got.

Stew-Mac sells optional bushings for Waverly tuning machines to fit instruments with other brand tuning machines so you don't have to ream/fill the existing holes in your headstock. The mounting screw holes aren't likely to line up, but that's a pretty easy plug and drill job.

Both Gotoh and Stew-Mac have good dimensional drawings on their sites to help you get a good idea of what will fit or what conversion bushings you'll need. It's rare IME for the shaft on one brand of tuning machine to exactly match that of another, which would allow use of the same bushings.

Gotoh makes those.

Ebay, Guitar Hey, Philadelphia Luthier Tools, JaParts, others. Just Google the SE700 and SXB or SXN 510 series.

Default Gotoh replacements

I believe one of the latest “guitar hunter” episodes on YouTube covers doing exactly what you want to do.
