Default Electronics for CEO7

I know I could probably find this in the Search Chronicles but figured since I had every ones attention I could get some up to date suggestions.

Since the CEO7 doesn't come with electronics, what suggestions on the best one for this guitar.... and can I do it myself. I have switched out pick-ups on electric guitars, and can do a pretty sufficient set-up.

K&K Mini. Only way to go...

Of course, you'll have to have the end pin hole drilled out but given that there's.....never mind.

You're going to get a lot of suggestions for K&K Pure Mini. Apart from that, if you're open to not using a permanently installed solution, iRig Acoustic Stage might be viable.

K&K Mini for me too.
Very simple controls (none). Very simple install, although it does require some skills and exact placement of the 3 transducers for best results.
I did one in my HD28V it came out great and I'm a bit of a klutz.

I expect there'll be plenty of instructional YouTube videos these days.

Good luck.

You might be quite skilled dealing with your electric guitars, but understand that acoustic guitars are a different animal entirely. Before you decide on a pickup system, decide what/where you'll be using it. What works best for a one-man stage concert isn't gonna work best for a six piece cover band.

And if someone tells you their system is "the way to go" take it with a grain of salt. I don't see anyone asking the pertinent questions, so how the heck would they know what's best for you?

I agree. Suggestions are fine. When somebody says "Pickup A is the only way to go", my response is well, I don't use that one and mine sounds pretty dang good.

Put on some headphones and go here:

It's at least an opportunity to hear some stuff from a guy who knows a lot about pickups.

I have a K&K in mine. It's the only pickup I've tried in my CEO but the K&K is a good fit for the smaller body size. I EQ it with a mid-scoop and a bump down in the low end and it sounds great.

I really like the way the Baggs Lyric sounds in small-bodied guitars.

I'll give you one to look into. There is a lesser known handmade pickup called the Dazzo. It is similar to the K&K but there is more to the design. It sounds more acoustic than a K&K. The installation process allows you to get it positioned correctly so it sounds good set flat. No battery or controls in your guitar.

Just to clarify, I have this pick up in an Om42, an HD 28vs, a Tylor 12 String, an OM 28....and a CEO 7.

The simplicity is astounding.

I've tried three with my CEO7:

Baggs Lyric = too difficult to get right on a real stage
DiMarzio Angel = good, cutting, juicy full sound but still pretty "electricy"
K&K mini = very good, very easy to get right, a little "furry"

I now run K&K into a Zoom A3 and I've stopped looking. It's really good enough for what I do. I may pop for a Tone Dexter.

Here are some videos that pretty clearly show what the CEO7, K&K, Zoom A3 sounds like on a stage: http://www.buzzardwhiskey.com/videos

If you are playing with a full band, UST. Otherwise I would go K&K or Trance.

I agree about the full band recommendation. The Baggs I-Beam works great for that in this one.
Very natural sounding with a volume control wheel (pretty much invisible) and a built in pre-amp.
