Orbital sander to the rescue...

Ear plugs are a necessity in this process!

A little blurry, but you get my drift on the sanding process...

Again, the pore filler is used until the guitar is slick as glass...

Where's Waldo?

Another close up view...

And yet another close up view. The next time you see this it will be sanded again ... and again.

OK, Rodger. My McJam suggestion for you is to make a song titled "Tim's shadow on my guitar."

And there you have the Mary Challenge. Well, challenge accepted. No one said it couldn't be an instrumental. Though, writing lyrics for that would be interesting.

Indeed. Seeing Tim work in person is equally inspiring. While I've become smitten by many of his guitars over the years, there have been so many that I can't say that I have a favorite and instead I come to appreciate the details, such as the attention to detail he plays with the mitering and soundport designs. For example, on one guitar the customer commissioned a beautiful inlay of a bulldog from Jimmi Wingert but Tim incorporated it into a theme that included a sound port in the same of a paw print.

BTW Roger, I know this one technically isn't for you but if memory serves this is your THIRD McKnight in as many years. If you keep this up you'll be up there with Eire!

Sorry - I tease. I'm just jealous because my little McKnight needs a big sister but I can't make it happen just yet.

Hey Neil... yes. My third McKnight. (that doesn't include Kathy's OM Highlander - so, 4 in the family). This is the first commissioned one.

No intention of competing with Eire (Kurt). This will be my last guitar purchase for a few years. The last time I said that, I went almost 3 years without any guitar related purchases, so I can control it to some extent.

Good luck with adding a McKnight "Big Sister."

Here, here, now: I've spaced mine out over a much longer stretch. I couldn't take the shock to the system of having three McKnights in my hands in as many years!

And, before he asks, I will not be passing one of mine along to Rodger's grandson.

Still loving the purling on the end-block area. A second picture of it was appreciated!

FYI: I'm always gonna be working on Kurt to fulfill a mini contract.

I did skip a year or two between McKnight 1 and McKnight 2. Two years, I think. Don't forget, I have a picture of you with about half a dozen McKnights from last year's McJam.

I'll look for the most adorable picture of my Grandson to see if you can resist giving him one of your McKnights.

Ouch. Hard evidence. Yep, that could shut me up. But I do believe there were "only" three, and not a half dozen McKnights in that photo. Still...

You probably could twist a few threads in my heart with photos of your grandson, Rodger. He's one lucky young man, though, to have a granddaddy building such an exceptional guitar to bequeath to him one day. Knowing that would have me practicing and practicing and practicing! Again: Kudos to you for the thoughtfulness and generosity on your part. What a guitar; what a legacy.

I thought that "mini contract" became null and void with the purchase of the cedar-topped Skeeter last summer, no? You are such a tough negotiator, Sis!

And that's because we're both golfers, Tim. Short memory is a good thing!

Now, enough hijacking of threads: Fret wire should be coming up. We want more photos!!!

Doin' good. Had a rough couple of months toward the closing of 2017, but we are happy to be back in the saddle. We haven't forgotten Rodger and his guitar. This is when things slow down for a while. It's almost like watching paint dry.
