Default Amp noise when turning off

I have a Fender Princeton Chorus amp that I bought cheap of craigslist .When I hit the off button it makes a short loud low hum and then two pops . Scares the carp out of everyone . Is that normal to hear that ?

Do you turn the volume down before you turn off the power? I'll have to check mine when I get home tonight to see if it does that, but I don't recall anything like this. Probably a capacitor discharging as part of the shutdown, but still you shouldn't hear it, especially if the volume is down.

Thanks , the volume is down on my guitar but not on the amp . I'll try the amp volume and see what happens .
Ok the buzz / hum is gone and the two pops remain with the volume down .
