Just met with a accident. I was cutting the length of back reinforcement strip in Neck area on a soft cloth met instead of Radius disk.

Chisel pressure developed a crack ( 1 inch) in neck block area and its direction was parallel to back strip, however the crack was limited in the neck block area oy..

I secure the crack by CA glue, now crack is invisible, but pl suggest any other remedies to avoid future issue.

Pl refer the pic, Red line is the crack and yellow is direction, but crack is only in Red line.

I would replace that piece of centre reinforcement with a wider one that covers the crack. It is in an area that is hard to see. The neck block will reinforce the rest of the crack. I prefer to use titebond or yellow carpenters glue on a crack but you might be ok with the CA glue.

Good idea, but i dont have a wider piece of spruce. But stewmac supplied Rosewood plate for Guitar peghead vernier. I think , i can save a wider piece from that.

So inplace of spruce, rose wood is ok? Or spruce piece like a graft on top ( behind of shoulder brace) will work?

Just a piece of wood like already there but maybe 10-15 mm wider to cover the crack. Make sure grain is oriented the same . Spruce is good Mahogany, I guess rosewood would be ok.

Thanks Fathands, very good suggestion.

Here are the actual pics of cracks, but i afraid you barely see the crack. If you zoom the pic and follow pink line , u may see this. You were right, that i should use Titebond, but i was so unrest and used CA glue in hurry. But i have check the strength of joint , it's ok, but need support.

I checked the Rosewood venier of peghead, it has enough length and i can cut down a piece of 60x 60 mm to be glued on back plate cross grain in place of spruce strip.

Also searching for spruce, i have a Top ordered from stewmac 2 years back, tomorrow i will check the position, they have developed cracked in whole length due to hot weather with in 3 days of arrive to my home.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about that. IMO the kerfed lining and the glue joint on the underside of the neck block should stabilize things sufficiently. When it comes time to glue on the plates, do the back first and see if things are stabilized after the glue has a chance to set.

Do you have spruce 2"x4" building lumber where you are? With creative cutting you can usually make a brace out of a piece of scrap.

I would go to a lumber store and pick up a 1x4 piece of spruce with an acceptable grain direction and just cut a piece for a patch and keep the rosewood for the peghead.

Never noticed, India. You do not need to use spruce, we just see it as the lowest cost material here.
