The real problem is trading a used guitar towards a new one; you're losing a lot of value that way. If I were you, I'd hold out to do a trade for (or sell then buy) a used Collings, Martin, etc. If you do like Taylors, then maybe someone will trade used a used Taylor jumbo + some cash.

Take my advice DON'T DO IT !!!
Taylor is not best for Jumbo. They've known for GA but definitely not Jumbo. If you want the Jumbo sell it on reverb.com ,ebay or here in the forum. Then try either Guild or Gibson .F-50,JF-50,J-100,J-200 for example. Those are the best of Jumbo with reputation and history to back them up. |

I heard a story once from one of the flatpicking winners at Winfield. The top three had their choice of a Collings, Martin, or Taylor. They were always picked in that order. (Bear in mind many of these guys already had keeper guitars and were going to sell the award guitar.)
Taylor was always third back in his day. First place always picked Collings, then second always picked Martin, then the Taylor went to third place by default. Taylor got tired of this and made a super-blinged up high end model for the prize. He won that year, and just said off hand, "I'll take the Collings." He realized later on that he should have taken the blinged up Taylor and sold it online, he would have had enough money to buy two Collings! |

This forum seems to have 2 threads against Taylors for every thread for the company. My #1 priority is satisfying my own taste in guitars. There's something about Taylor that's very polarizing, which I suppose is interesting. |

I have a recent Collings jumbo and a recent Taylor GA and depending on what I'm playing, HOW I'm playing and my mood, I could like either one better. They're both fine guitars. The new 600s are really amazing .... I had a showdown between that and the 800. It obviously comes down to what you like playing, don't let the name dictate the decision. Also, I find it amusing the way Taylors are criticized for being bright ... my Collings and others I've played, are even brighter. But with Collings that seems to be an asset:-)

Just another is a long list of polarizing topics...
Martin Gibson Eric Clapton Sound ports Fan frets Joe Bonamassa Guitars over $5K Guitars under $1K Ivory Small bodied guitars Tone-Rite Blues Neck joints Dealer discounts The impact of (fill in the blank) on tone etc. etc. etc. That's what makes it so much fun!
