Journey Overhead OF660 Carbon Fiber Model
Ok, just spent about thirty minutes with our first Journey OF660 Carbon Fiber travel guitar and here is my first impression.
The guitar went together without a hitch, and fit and finish, as well as setup are excellent on this example. The OF660 has a scoop serving as a cutaway which allowed me access to the 16th and 17th fret with little effort, works much better than I thought it would. In addition to the cutaway scoop, the guitar features a contoured back and armrest so it's really comfortable to play. BTW, the CF model is a bit heavier than the wood models, maybe an ounce or two, but you will not notice this while it's in the case. Tonally this guitar has to be one of the warmest sounding CF guitars out there, almost too warm for a guy used to playing Rainsong, but certainly not muddy. I would say it sounds more like a CA Cargo than the Rainsong Parlor but I need to play all of them them side by side for a while to get a better feel as to how they stack up. Bottom line, I like it!  I will ask Pierre to record a comparison video tomorrow of the OF660, CA Cargo, Rainsong Studio Parlor and the Kevin Michael travel guitar tomorrow. Thanks for the first impression, and glad that you liked it. Definitely wanting to pick one of these up once they start to showing up at dealers. Good to hear the positive things about the fit and finish as well. Interesting on the warm sound. Thanks again!

I can't wait to try a Journey guitar. My Voyage Air has the nice thin nut that I like, but the shorter scale on the Journey is very appealing too.

I still really like the idea of this guitar, although there is another new one that I am guessing I would like even more. Wish I didn't have $3k of dental work coming up

Ted, that's great. Clear differences.... But ... which one is which? I don't know them well enough to be able to tell by the looks, especially when part of the guitar is obscured by his right arm.
