Default The amazing Gretsch Jim Dandy

Having spent a fortune on guitars during my lifetime, it's nice to find a guitar that plays and sounds great for $170, brand new. The Jim Dandy is part of Gretsch' roots collection. And it does roots music to a T. Just goes to show you don't have to spend a lot of money to sound like a million bucks.

Yep that guitar sounds great! The roots collection and the electromatics have been impressive. I was jonesing for the aspen green 5420 for awhile there (along with a Fender Vaporizer in surf green)

Cool videos!

It's amazing what you can do with a cheap guitar and an iPhone after a few beers.

I'm happy to surprise anyone with Fahey tunes! He is my master and one and only guitar hero. Don't even get me started.

I agree with the assessment of the Gretsch Roots collection and Electromatics. The Roots stuff sounds great for roots music and comes pretty playable right out of the box. And they're priced right. Maybe even underpriced. Gretsch does take risks and sometimes they pay off.

Btw-I don't work for Gretsch and have no affiliation with any maker or retailer of guitars or musical gear. I'm just enthusiastic about this guitar. And I'm dying to try the Gretsch Rancher with the pickup and Bigsby (!). Can't think of another maker that would produce such a thing.

Sounds good, it has that good old time sound. Nice playing too.

I agree. It has a great, dry, old sound. Nice whiny treble and a little click in the bass. I think it sounds wonderful. And it records well on the iPhone. And we're talking about a guitar I bought used at Sam Ash for $100!!!

Cool Just received Gretsch Jim Dandy Delta Blue Sky

I gave my nephew my vintage Gibson because I knew he'd take care of it and i wanted a guitar to take around, so after looking at a bunch of them, I landed on the Jim Dandy. It is smaller, has a great big sound, which what i always loved about my Gibson and stays in tune beautifully. Great price at $169.

I have one also and love it! Perfect couch guitar, always close by. I usually take it along on vacations also. Just last week, I sat on a bench on the Balboa Pier in Newport Beach and entertained the seagulls with some DADGAD tunes...
