Decided to try these out put a set of the mid tensions on my new D-18 last week and after about 5 playing hours they still sound great! I like the lower tension and the tone is incredible! I have tried every string and was set on D Addarios EXP before these. Now I will buy Santa Cruz for as long as they are available [emoji2]

Time to Change the Strings!
OK - Ten weeks and I have decided to change the strings. Why? The tuning is getting finicky and i don't hear a lot of overtones - and yet, could be the day - it's very humid today. But ten weeks is an awfully good run!
Rick PS - Just completed the string change - yup, it was time. And I just ordered several more sets. I want to try out the medium tensions on some of the heftier guitars in the stable.

I look forward to hearing how you like the mid-tensions. I am giving those a try as well. I think I put the low tensions on a week or two after you posted about yours. I will see how much longer they last.

Further update:
1) 55 hours of playing time with a mid-tension SCGC string set on my Tippin OMT. Wiped off after each playing session. This set has gone through perhaps 100 tuning changes (standard, dropped-D, DADGAD, G tuning, D tuning, C tuning, and a few others). They continue to seem to be getting near the end of mid-life, but they just aren't getting to end life...they haven't really changed that much in the last 15 hours of playing time. 2) 37 hours of playing time with a low-tension SCGC string set on my Collings 000. Wiped off after each playing session. Nice strings, although I suspect this guitar would enjoy the mid-tension set a bit more. 3) New set of mid-tension strings on the SCGC FS. Nice, nice, nice. 4) New set of mid-tension strings on the SCGC 000 1929. Again, nice, nice nice. These strings are the cats meow.

sdelsolray and srick - thanks for the updates. I am having a similar inkling about the mid-tension strings. Had a friend in from out of town this weekend so will get those puppies on my guitars this week!

I know this isn't the main focus of the discussion, but where are people buying these strings? Assuming they're all that they're advertised to be, $18 isn't THAT bad, but they're not available from my usual source, and I calculated the shipping from Soundpure; $11.55 post office!

upsidedown - you might also want to check out Straight Up Strings at this website
https://pegheadnation.com/news-reviews/breaking-news Roger Siminoff developed these strings with Richard Hoover and they sound very similar but are less expensive. Not sure if there is a critical difference between the two but they are worth trying. Best, Jayne
