Martin CS-D18-12 - Sinker Mahogany -12 fret - $3700
Martin CS-D18-12. From the custom shop in 2011 made to capture the spirit of the vintage Diston 111. Only 75 of these were made in this limited run. You can read a review with details all of its specs here: http://onemanz.com/guitar/reviews/ac...ies/cs-d18-12/
For the listing price alone the appointments on this guitar crazy. Some note worthy features include: Sinker Mahogany Back and Sides All Hide Glue Construction Madagascar Rosewood bindings Brazilian Rosewood Headplate Authentic style Thin Finish Fossilized Mammoth Ivory Saddle and Nut The guitar has been kept in good condition. No cracks. No dings. The only two noteworthy thing is there is weird thin patch of finish near the soundhole where the pickguard would be. You can feel it with your hand but cannot see it in photos, its not from scratches or abrasion so I am not sure what that is. Also on the neck near the headstock some of the finish is peeling off close up photo of that is attached. Would very much like a local sale first, I am in the NYC area. Would be willing to meet somewhere within reason. If you're dying gotta have it I can probably be talked into shipping. I have a martin shipping box from one of my other guitars and saved all the packaging foam and peanuts and junk. But again would really like a local sale Thanks! A very reasonable price for a fantastic guitar! I'd snatch it up if I didn't already have my Ditson 111... I think the string spacing specs differ from the 111 — a narrower nut, no?

Sweet
I appreciate the bar in the neck.
All the coveted pre-war instruments had NO adjustable metal truss rods. can not be Mis-adjusted! The thin finish should make a big difference in the sound. I expect the funk on the neck by the Headstock is from a guitar hanger of some sort that did not agree with the finish. If the finish is a Nitro, it should polish out pretty easily, for someone who knows what they’re doing. You might want to describe the neck shape/carve Best on this! Hope you don’t miss it too much… Paul

For the record, these have a steel Tbar neck reinforcement, not ebony. More stable than the ebony rods. ( http://onemanz.com/guitar/reviews/ac...ies/cs-d18-12/ )
I've always admired this model. That's a fair price on this one. Nothing quite like a 12-fret D-18! Good luck, all. |

I have a D1 Authentic 1931 and owned a CS-D18-12 very briefly at the same time. Both guitars sounded great, but different from each other. I kept the D1 because the setup and neck angle on my D1 are slightly better than what was on the CS-D18-12 I was comparing it against, but not by much.
I actually prefer more of the features on the CS-D18. Wish I had kept it. If I was younger I'd be interested in buying this one. From the One Man's review: Specs for the CS-D18-12 include: All solid woods; hide glue construction throughout; standard 12-fret dreadnought size; old growth sinker mahogany back and sides; Adirondack spruce top; ebony fingerboard and 1920s straight bridge; one-piece mahogany neck with slotted headstock and T-bar truss rod; 1-3/4″ neck with low CS profile neck and 2-5/16″ string spacing; fossilized ivory nut, saddle and pins; 1929 Ditson 111 appointments; extra-thin finish; Waverly tuning machines with ivoroid butter bean buttons. The Stew Mac vintage tuners on the D1 work OK, but I think the Waverly tuners on the CS-D18-12 look much better. I put Snakewood Waverly tuners on my D1. The other likeable features of the CS-D18-12 for me when compared to the D1 are the wood bindings, ebony fingerboard, and the non-VTS top. Great guitar. Best of luck with the sale.

Gotta give this one a Sat morning bump. This is a wonderful instrument ! Suprised it's not been gobbled up yet.
Bought mine brand new in 2013 and have no plans to ever let it go. And I've let some good ones go.... Someone will be glad to have made the road trip for this one !! Good luck with your sale
