FG730s vs Alverez AD60
Almost ordered the Yamaha today. Also was thinking about the AD60. Looks like they are very similar. Both about the same price. Anyway would one be better than the other. Still leaning to the yamaha. Love the tobacco sunburst.

cannot go wrong
Have 3 FG730S 2 Tobacco that reaaly sound excellent ,, strumming type playing and sound best with Dunlop PB 11-52s for some reason . I Gave up playing 12s long ago , too much tension making it uncomfortable to play , and the 11's are around 30-40 less pounds of tension I think ...I Love The FG730S and YES The Finish rivals any $2000 Tobacco finish or better, STUNNING . They project extremely well with the Dunlop 11-52 PB and never had one break ..Use Guitar Moose .75 Clears with the soft rubber grip , no dropped picks ever, builds more confindence too.

I haven't tried the Alverez, but I can tell you the Yamaha are hard to beat in their price range. Well made and sound pretty good.

I've had a Yamaha FG730S tobacco burst for almost four years now. I intend to take it to my grave.
I also like the Alvarez AD60, but I like the Yamaha more. Either one is a big bang for the buck, IMO. Flip a coin an pick one......they're both good buys.

Check the string spacing at the bridge for both guitars. Many Yamaha guitars have a closer than usual spacing. It makes finger picking cramped.
That said, I hear that the latest generation of Alvarez AD60 guitars is really good . . . improvements made since the brand was re-purchased by the folks in St. Louis. |

FG730s vs Alverez AD60
I have no experience with the Yammie, but I did have an AD60sc back in the day. Not a bad guitar, but not great either. Also, after about three years the bridge started rising up on the lower bout side. It was definitely going to need a regluing. I sold the guitar, issues well known by the buyer by the way, and moved onto Taylor. Now I don't know if the newer ADs will be prone to this as well, or if mine was an isolated case. So I have no real advice except to check into this and related warranty coverage if you choose to go with the Alvarez.

Alvarez is making some very good guitars for the money these days. Several members have posted on this forum that they were pleased and surprised with the tone and quality of build that Alvarez is offering.
Take a look at Maple Street Guitar's website. They keep quite a few of the Alvarez models in stock. Some folks here have ordered from them and they had good things to say about the experience. Here is a link: http://www.maplestreetguitars.com/index.php I'm not affiliated w/ Maple Street.

An excellent choice. Had to let mine go due to shoulder problem but for the money possibly the best Dreadnaught available.
