The consensus is if you really love the way it plays and sounds, then GO FOR IT!

Went to buy J45, again, and took the coward's way out!!!! Just can't pull that trigger at $2700. The Martin was sweet at third of price. Very tempting

I got one and love it!!
It's sort of similar to my Gibson J15 in its smoothness when strumming but also has her own voice, if that makes any sense.

I vote yes!

Best,
PJ

jed, a little advice......If you love the J45, then be patient and save your money until you can spring for one. Don't settle for something you just like.
Be patient and get something you LOVE.
I've made this mistake more than once. In the long run, it's better to wait and purchase your dream guitar when you're ready.

It's a love-hate thing. Truth is, I'm not that impressed with J45 at that price. It just doesn't do it for me. Now, the J15--That's different. Problem is I've only found one to play within 200 miles of me and it gone now. I should bought it. I will probably have to buy one unplayed if I want one at this point. I could send it back I suppose.

Martins, on the other hand, are plentiful to try.... I like the sound of the Martin I played today better than than the J45. Sounds odd, but to my ears, it was better. I have almost decided that a Martin might be where I need to look. Plenty of them new and used.

Yes, that makes perfect sense. The J15 is my preference but having a time finding one to play.

I have one and love it. Every time I pick it up I cannot believe the quality of it. I got it slightly used for $550. I think you'd be very hard-pressed to ever find more guitar for that money. It's not flashy, it just plays and sounds fantastic.

Thanks. I'm trying to clear up the nut width confusion. GC says nut is 1 11/16, Sweetwater says 1 3/4, MF and Amazon says 1 11/16..... Martin site says 1 3/4.

????

I found a ruler . .mine is 1 11/16.

If it matters, mine is probably from 2016 or maybe 2015.

Martin has changed some models from 1 11/16 to 1 3/4. I had a 2 year old Dx1ae that was 1 11/16 but it's now 1 3/4. Your's is probably the same,

If it was me, I'd take the DRS2 every day over the J45. Go get it!
