Default Far side of the world - Original song

Hi folks,
Something I wrote.Low E tuned down to C.capo on 7.Gibson J-45.happy for any feedback.
Cheers

On the far side of the world
That’s where you’re gonna stay
The far side of the world
The blindfold went astray

The juryman held out his hand
when he heard that you confessed
to playing the hesitation blues
to every lover that you met

,you’re not the only one,
you’re not the only one,
you’re not the only one
I know
There’s a sailor who fell from grace
From the sea
Never realised how dry land could be
Now he sails in a desert
Of his own making
His bow line all shot and
his hands are all shaking

Its hard to make that ship turn round
When the captain would rather be lost than found

The far side of the world
The ghost trains run all day
You can get yourself a ticket if
You want to fade away
Away from her time,
Away her place Madeleine
Takes her seat, opens
Up a locket that
Makes her so incomplete

She says im not the only one,
Im not the only one
Im not the only one you know

There’s brakeman who keeps his lamp trimmed and low
He’s searching for something but what I don’t know
Then somebody mentions a prodigal son
He just shakes his head
Then walks on and on

Its hard to turn that train on back
When you’re drowning in railway gin
On a railway track

To the far side of the world
That warm magnetic touch
The far side of the world
another stranger tries his luck

He books a room without a view
Of his recent past
Then dials up some game of chance
And prays its not his last

He said im not the only one, im not the only one
Im not the only one you know

Its hard to turn your life around
When the jokers have all been played and the kings have all been crowned

I loved that! Lots of power in the guitar and voice. Structurally the melody /chord scheme breaks some new ground. Congrats.

I enjoyed the heck out of that FB. Had a nice somber feel to it, good and depressing. Most of my favorite songs are sort of dark. I love the plunky sound you get out of that Gibson and the raw, unpolished performances. I've enjoyed several of your postings without commenting. I'm a fan.

Steven and Sal - you are both too kind.
And Steven...I wish I had a bit more musical polish..but I have to settle for unpolished and pretend it's intentional

I really like the lyric. Raw poetry reminiscent of early Dylan. It really holds together and paints a vivid picture with the imagery and word play. Most writers I've known who've attempted this style fall short. You did not fall short. Kudos to you sir, it's a wonderful lyric delivered with a bared soul!

Both Townes Van Zandt & Steve Earle would love this!

Murph,Catdaddy and JDrew.
Such nice comments.Sometimes the art for arts sake of spending a long time on lyrics and wondering "why am I doing this?" gets a reward from feedback like that.
Much appreciated!
