Default Nbd - Enoch tradesman walnut

After many many months of looking and lusting, I finally was able to pull the trigger on an extremely lightly used 2015 Enoch tradesman open back. Bought from a member at the banjo hangout, this should serve perfectly for that old time clawhammer that haunts my brain. It has the tone I am after, and couldn't be happier right now. Kevin makes a fantastic instrument. Fit and finish are flawless. Here's a few crummy iPad pics.

Congrats on a great banjo find! I have an OME open back with wood tone ring, but it is still much heavier than I would like. I have heard great things about the model you have.

Very nice, congrats! I'm thinking of getting an open-back myself, for clawhammer work, to complement the bluegrass I've been messing with for 30 years or so.

Thanks. I have really been enjoying it, and have been learning my first few clawhammer tunes. It sounds amazing when played over the scoop, and it has definitely become my preference. I strung it up will nylguts a few days ago because the seller tossed a free set in, and they are definitely nice. I will probably go back to steel, but it's good to know I can get those even mellower tones from this banjo. I would leave them on for a bit but snapped one when tuning up. I guess I need to de-burr my no-knot a little...

I know the clawhammer world is a niche of a niche in the music world, so I am a little lost because there isn't as much information compared to guitar, mando, and even bluegrass banjo. It doesn't help that I don't plan on playing trad old time for the most part. Anyway, I can't recommend Kevin enough. Go try one out if you haven't.

Maybe at some point, but I currently couldn't do it justice with my playing nor my recording abilities. Check out Zepp on youtube, he has a few different Tradesman clips. Thanks.
