Default ID this case!

Can you ID this case from the photos? It is supposedly an older Hiscox Pro model for electric-acoustic guitars.

Yeah, could be an ancient basic Hiscox. I see it has a badge on it -what does that say?
Hiscox cases usually have more detail on the lid.
could be a far-eastern made copy.

I agree with SM, it looks like an early Hiscox ‘Standard’ Case, from the period before both the Pro-ll or ‘Artist’ ranges were introduced, and the badge does look like an early iteration of the Hiscox badge. I’ve seen a few like that, they dated from the early ‘90s if my memory serves me correctly.

Thank you very much, Silly Moustache and JayBee1404! I really appreciate your help. It's also very cool to witness people who have seen so much gear!

It's someone else's case, let me see if I can get a close up of the badge.

The interior doesn't seem as much like any Hiscox I've ever seen - Hiscoxes material seems really tight and fitted, that seems more shaggy and loose. Older Hiscox might have had that, though....

It actually looks EXACTLY like most of the old molded Ovation cases, though it's hard to tell if the cavity is rounded for a bowl-back, but some other early molded cases shared that same basic simple plastic construction and shaggier material inside. Martins early molded cases look a lot like that, too. The badge would/could help a lot in identifying it.

According to the owner, the badge says "Hiscox" and that's it- will that do or is the exact look relevant?

PS: Great info, again!!!

Excellent result! Incidentally, with regard to the ‘shagginess’ of the case-lining, my first Hiscox, purchased around 1995 I think, might have been earlier, was a ‘Standard’ and it had that shaggy material. All my other Hiscoxes gave been Pro-ll cases, and they’ve had the ‘smoother-finish’ lining.

I think the oldest one I have seen was early 2000sish Lowden one I had. Was much closer to the ones I have now and have seen in recent years. I actually kinda like the shagginess. I always think these new ones seem too tight and rough almost.

capocasa, Welcome to the AGF! My initial thoughts on the pic, evern before reading your post, was that it might be a Hiscox.

I wonder if you can email Hiscox with some photos? It would be great if they responded to you and you could let us know as well.

Owner wrote to Hiscox and got a reply! It is, apparently, an early version of the STD-EA case for electro-acoustic guitars. Main difference is it's only 10cm deep rather than 13cm for the Dreadnought (AC) model. Didn't get a year thought. Thanks, everyone!
