I like the newer one better. In my opinion 60s Martins were overbuilt. The newer Martins are not as overbuilt and generally sound better.

New one sounds richer and ringing nicely. It sounds open too.

The newer one sounded brighter, more open. But given my taste in guitar sounds I didn't like either one of them.

They sound somewhat different from each other. IMHO, neither is "better" than the other, just different.

I preferred the '64. The new one sounded brighter but also more tinny. I'm listening through my cheap laptop speakers though so who knows.

Agreed.

Personally, I liked the old in the fingerpicking portion but the new on strumming.

The 64 for me. Nice sustain and better depth of sound. The new one sounds very alive too.

I can't hear any reason to go chasing 'vintage' when the 'new' version sounds like that.
