Have you guys ever seen this? It's a clip of The Simon Sisters when Carly was in her teens playing in NYC. I'm pretty sure it's The Bitter End where my band played many a time back in the day. Anyway- it's a cool kids song:

BTW- in my last post it may also be interesting to note that Carly Simon's sister Lucy produced the Broadway version of The Secret Garden (just watched the movie last night with my kids) which was nominated for 7 Tony awards in 1991... talented family! (Dad was Richard Simon of Simon & Schuster Publishing..)

Nobody mentioned Shel Silvetstein? Sometes a bit risqué but often will go over their heads.
Also the Barenaked Ladies have a great kids song album out with among others the modern kids classic "Seven ate Nine". Last edited by JMSparky; 05-28-2012 at 06:16 PM. Reason: Typo |

One thing about performing to kids: You have to be much more animated in the song presentation.Mimic other sounds of stuff-like the yellow sub, just like what Lennon was doing during the bridge, animals, machines etc...Use gestures a lot and spoken words for emphasis.
The presentation and not necessarily the content is really what children focus on.They never have "airs" and are quite blunt in their reception. |

Jerry Garcia and David Grisman did an album of nothing but kids songs. Called Not for kids only. There are some great not typical run of the mill tunes here.

Do a search on Laurie Berkner. Younger kids absolutely love her music.
