It's was a great show. I liked how the focus was the Tragically Hip and Gord Downie not just Gord.
Culturally you can tell this is a US forum. Canadians mourn the loss of a cultural icon who is really unknown in the the greater US. Yet on a music forum the word "URANUS" gets more views and comments. Curious

I don't expect anyone except Canadians to really understand what the Tragically Hip are to us. To be honest I didn't realize what they meant to me. They were just always there, singing about very Canadian places and events. And putting it all to some very infectious grooves. But until it's gone I think you just take it for granted.
Watching the documentary last night gave me so much respect for the whole band. Gord was compassionate, kind, passionate of all the arts...and a little crazy. The epitome of a true Canadian. At least in my mind. |
