Default MacNichols Is Closing Their Doors

I was bummed to receive a email stating that MacNichols Guitar in Murray Utah is closing their doors, and will no longer be a Rainsong dealer. I went there a few months ago and had the unique opportunity to play most of the Rainsong models. Although I don't currently have the $$ to get one, I had decided which model to save for. Now they will fold and become an internet only accessory dealer but won't carry their guitars. Very sad indeed. Oh well.....another one bites the dust.

This seems to be a trend. A small mom-and-pop next to my home shut their doors late 2014. I'm always saddened to see this happen. I bought a Shorty from Michael last September and have loved the experience; excellent customer service and a wealth of knowledge to tap into. Michael was great with addressing all of my questions and a general great person to talk with.

Having said that, I wish Michael and staff warm wishes and pray for the best for all involved in the shut down. May your business still find a way to prosper and might you all find joy in new areas of your lives. I can't imagine working those kind of hours even for something you are super passionate about, I can't imagine that being very sustainable. Michael and MacNichol's contributions to the CF market are invaluable even though I have been late arriving to the graphite scene. I know MacNichol is a forum sponsor- so, Michael, if you are reading this, here is a huge thank you!

That's sad to hear. I just bought a Blackbird Rider from them and they were all great to work with every step of the way. Best of luck to them in their continued business.

I had been talking to them about an Emerald now that Ted is no longer a dealer. :-(

I responded in the other thread Michael started, but I'll say it again, this is a shock. Here's wishing Michael and staff all the best.

Dang, I've been putting off making a road trip from Boise down to Salt Lake City area and shopping at McNichols. Guess I waited too long.....
They were unique in being able to see and play a variety of CF guitars. Best wishes on their internet business.

This long term stagnant economy is taking its toll. Even the GC in my town is looking worse for wear.

Many thanks for the kind words. Our doors are still open until April 25.

Our Tech Manager, Jordan Hong, will continue working on instruments in the Salt Lake City area. He's an excellent tech, and so if you are in the area and need work done, please contact me and I can get his information to you.

Hey Man, I am SO sorry to hear this. I've participated in two Road Trip events and MacNichol's was absolutely great to work with. It was not possible to be better than they were with me. My best wishes for the next step of their lives.

Yes, the CF world has taken a hit. But we still have Ted, and he is easy to work with, though he does not have the services offered by Michael, Michael still has significant services available. And we have this forum. The guiding light of this forum is a powerful servant of acoustic guitars and he has done a great service to the CF community by allowing us this voice. Life goes on.....

itself, it's completely gone. There is no link possible other than archive.org. You can enter the old URL there and you will see a selection of posts, but not everything. Sorry.

The only person who might have kept a copy of the complete archive in working order would be Michael himself before he shut it down.

it was a shame to see them go. Absolutely the best shop to deal with for CF guitars.
