To me a string that buzzes open but not when fretted means the nut slot was cut too deep.

@Dru Edwards
How about this guy who uses a hose, bucket of soapy water and 20 minutes of scrubbing.

Soak a neck in oil for 5 days? ROFLMAO! $144 bucks and he didn't even throw in a rust proof undercoating?
Ok sorry I had a laugh at your expense... I think there is miscommunication. I can't imagine someone would still be in business who soaks guitars necks in oil for 5 days. In my experience a guitar that buzz's doesn't ever really settle in or rather settle out a buzz. You might get used to it but it will still be there more likely then not. |

I don't know if Fender still does it, but they actually used to dip their necks in sealer (they called it Fullerplast) before finishing. I know early Charvel necks were dipped in something similar to TruOil and rubbed out. In both cases they did not leave them in for 5 days!
Other than that, I'd have to agree with everyone here that you didn't get what you paid for... |

IIRC, Fullerplast was used on the bodies, not the necks, before painting the bodies.

Just an update for those wondering:
I brought it back and told the to fix the buzzing because that's what I originally came for. I didn't want to piss this guy off to bad but I made it pretty obvious that I was unhappy with the service and would not be a returning customer. This guy is a total scam and didn't do half the things he claimed (obviously lol). Please avoid this guy at all costs! Wild Dutch Guitar Repair in Ohio. |
