options for digital recording without a computer
I want to record some of my practice sessions for assessment and feedback purposes only, and I don't want to mess with computers, multitrack recordings, effects, etc. - just get an accurate reproduction of the sounds I just made, in reasonably high fidelity. I currently have a microphone and a stereo amplifier that I can plug it directly into - also a bass amplifier that works alright as well - so I figure that all I really need is a digital recorder with analog output as well as input. Is there such a beast out there? Is it easy for a luddite to use?
I have zero knowledge about digital recording: I'm stubbornly technophobic and have no desire to learn any more than necessary to do what I want. I don't want to spend a fortune upgrading equipment either. Useful suggestions appreciated.

Just a question, do you have a smartphone? That is all I've used so far and works well.
I do want to go to the next step and get a recording mic or something to my PC.....

No smartphone. I've used one though and would like a bit more, um, information than they provide.

There are a number of handheld recorders at price points from $90 to $400+. I'm a fan of the Zoom H2n but some folks prefer Tascam (DR-05 etc.) while others like Sony (M10). Visit some major online retailer like Sweetwater http://www.sweetwater.com/c1006--Portable_Recorders and get an idea of what's on the market and what price range you might prefer.

I use the Zoom H2n for quick recordings. A very capable little unit.

SJ,
I may be going this route as well. I don't really have anything so I was thinking about a mic for PC. There are a bunch of good videos out there, here are a couple I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tY28gQnBW0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEFwKCp1yFo
