Please vote! Tony Vines Guitar build for SBAIC
I am excited about the SBAIC this year! I am starting a new build just for the show. I am thinking about a fantastic set of BRW with hummm....what top? The guitar will be one of my "SL" models. It is a 13fret to body 24.75 scale "00" size guitar. I want to involve my friends here on the thread, so cast your vote for your favorite top wood to match with BRW. You can post it here, or private message me. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Oh, this is going to be fun! One thing that I've always thought would be cool is a Brazilian rosewood guitar with a really nice, striped sinker redwood top. Of course the natural default is a good stiff Adirondack spruce top. If it has to be Adirondack, then a nice burst that borrows colors from the Brazilian rosewood but my first choice is the sinker redwood.

Well for me, for a show guitar with arguably the top of the top back and side woods ie. BRW, the choice for me would be the equally arguably top of the line top, ie. Italian Spruce!!! For any haters out there haha, please note the use of the work arguably hahaha!

European spruce; Italian, German, Swiss, Carpathian or whatever name you want to call it. Clarity with headroom. I've had Engleman, and currently own Sitka, Adirondack and Italian Alpine and I've read a ton, both here and over in the Log Cabin section of the UMGF. Read what guys like Bruce Sexauer or Willi Henkes have to say about European.. If you can, too, you might want to opt for moon cut spruce. Read about it from the guys who build high end guitars and know from whence they speak. That's what I would pair with a good chunk of Brazilian.

I'd like to hear a BRW guitar with a Koa top.

Because I am who I am, and fairly consistent in my choices, I agree with the Sinker Redwood top, and I'd find the stiffest piece I could get my hands on. Short of that, I'd follow the Italian Spruce crowd.

When I think of BRW I think vintage.
So for me it would be Adi, I think Torrefied Adi would would be a nice choice. SA |

If its a primo set of BRW then why not use a primo LS top? Otherwise, Adi would be my close second choice.

I'm biased with owning an LS Redwood topped guitar, but these were my thoughts....exactly!!

I think LS would be cool too. If you don't have one, I vote that Tim might have to help you find one.

Lucky Strike is a good choice...but a good, stiff redwood. I know, I said that above.
