Default Seeking recommendations for Short Scale 000 guitars that are in the 1k +or-

I'd like to get some knowledgable recommendations for a 000 size short scale guitar, either Mahogany or Rosewood back/sides is ok. I'd like to get some decent tone but not have to go up past 2k for a Pennsylvania built instrument. I'm not adverse to off-shore built, quality instruments. And not interested in engaging in conversations about the merits of not buying American... I just want a good sounding workhorse short scale smaller bodied guitar that I don't have to pay a 2k-plus fortune for. Suggestions?

I'd take a look at Eastman's OM's. They're truly 000 as they are all short scale. Tough to beat for the money and available in rosewood or mahogany with Sitka or Adi tops. All for $1200 or under new, much less used.

Take a look ar the new Martin 000-17s. They are in your ballpark and seem to be great guitars. I played one at the roadshow and it sounded great and played well.

Thanks for the suggestions - have some one-one time to spend at a couple of music stores...

I can recommend the Simon & Patrick (Godin) Woodland Pro Folk. It's got the short scale, 14 fret neck, and projection of a 000 but the body is technically a comfy 00 with a slotted headstock. All solid spruce/mahogany, all gloss body, and really surprising tone! Amazing quality construction for well within your price range. Check 'em out.

If you don't mind going used you should check out reverb dot com. Lots of good choices in your price range.

If you are willing to go used on Reverb, you could get a top quality OM or OOO guitar for way under that. I buy many of my instruments used, after trying them out in real life through various sources. I got my favorite Grand Auditorium at just slightly over HALF retail price from an extremely reliable Reverb seller.

Put the Blueridge 000 on your list as one to consider. It has a more traditional, Martin-like tone than the Eastman, if that's the tone you're after.

Buy the Takamine EF508KC for sale here. It's the best small scale guitar you will find under $1000.
This model guitar is the guitar Kenny Chesney plays at all his concerts. And since he is second to Garth Brooks in ticked sales in 2015, it's not a bad choice at all.
I own a similar size guitar with similar pickup, and it's a great performing guitar while being very comfortable to play for hours.

Stand corrected, this model is a Koa model of the Legend series, and not the exact guitar Kenny plays but similar size.

An enthusiastic +1 recommendation on the Eastman line of OMs, which are all short scale. They are well made, sound great and very satisfying.

Also, the new Guild Westerly guitars are very nice. Not sure if there is a short scale OM.

I'd check out a used Gibson J-35 or J-15.
