+1. Some suggestions from my experience:

Use brighter strings, like 80/20, if you want to increase the perception of sound projection. This guitar has a broad range of tonal possibilities. I wouldn't be without mine.

Also, in addition to playing a 000-15M, have someone else play it to you so you get an idea of what it really sounds like. A nice heavy V-Pick also brings out a fat, loud sound from it.

Last easter weekend I played a Tweedy for a couple hours at the Sam Ash in LA. It was awesome in every respect. As I considered whether I should try and negotiate something with my wife the following morning before leaving for home, I checked the LA craigslist and found a 000-15sm in Long Beach- 2001, all stock, hadn't been played in awhile, dead strings, etc. But it was clean, ding and crack free, and a motivated seller. That now hangs in my bedroom for about 1/4 the cost of the Tweedy, which retailed for neighborhood of $2500 or so.

I love it and for the price, it can't be touched.

Thats definitely good to know. Like I said, I really liked the 15 series, the only things I would change would be the nut width and give it a beefier neck which I think the Tweedy satisfies. While 0ps are louder than 000s have bigger voices than 00s, Im wondering if the deeper 00 DB does a good job of leveling tye playing field, so to speak. At the price Im getting the tweedy it is giving me a real case of the temptation. Only thing that gives me pause is that i cant get my hands to play ine first. SW has a decent return policy so maybe I should try the tweedy and send it back if I dont like it.

I'm not sure if Sweetwater carries Larrivee or not but I picked up a used 12-fret Larrivee OM-03 in sunburst that is stunning. Great full neck, loud as any spruce topped guitar I've played, and tone to die for, all for about $1000 less than your budget. Look into these.

Sadly, no Larrivee. I have heard nothing but good things about those boxes.

Seems like the Martin 00-15e Retro might be a good fit?
The neck on the retro series really isn't that thin- it is more that it doesn't get much bigger as you move up the neck.... And ifn ya want more noise you could plug in. All stage ready and such

Happy hunting

Consider going used and you'll get more bang for your buck.

The Santa Cruz 1929 is a phenomenal guitar. Made in both 00 and 000 sizes. I have played the 00 and it's on my short list.

There was one for sale here at a crazy good (low) price for this type of guitar but I haven't seen it bumped in a while so it might have sold.
+1. See if you can get your hands on one of these 1929's to try.

Agreed. I played a 000 on Tuesday and it's been haunting me since.

Oddly enough I tried the 0015 that se day and it almost seemed like a different guitar. I dont know if it was the electronics, which seemed kind of bulky inside the body, killed some of the aclustoc resonance but it just wasnt anywhere as lively as the normal 0015e. I think im gonna give the Tweedy a whirl and if I dont like it i will return it and go for the 00015sm. Would still love to hear more from owners of these two lovely guitars. Thanks again for the advice.

Another thing I was curious about was the richlite on the Tweedy. Ive never played, much less owned, a guitar with that stuff on it. Actually, can say the same for the morado on the 00015sm. At first i was a little uneasy about the prospect of paying over $1500 for a guitar with anything other than traditional woods for the bridge and fingerboard, but i dont think there is a real reason to be.

Well aftwr days of obsessing over virtually every Martin model in the $1500-3000 range I think ive finally decided to pull the trigger on the Tweedy. Mostly came down to versatilitt, nut width, and neck shape. I just wish Martin offered a short scale, 1 3/4, v neck guitar in that price range. I also thought really long and hard about the 000-15sm, the new 000-17, and the OM28s. The tweedy just seemed to have the ability to cover more ground. Could be wrong though, I suppose.
