Default NGD: Bourgeois JOM Custom Country Boy / Banjo Killer

This is a Bourgeois JOM (Jumbo OM) Custom Country Boy (Banjo Killer). Custom Country Boy with Banjo Killer bracing. Bearclaw Figured Sitka Spruce / Mahogany. Ziricote bridge and fingerboard. I received this wonderful guitar today. It's the first Bourgeois I played that I really REALLY liked, and it won't be for sale. Very much the workmanship I had heard about. I had seen it online at Eddie's Guitars and watched the video of it for a week before ordering and it lives up to the video demonstration. Some may cringe but it has the full Martin perfect sound I gravitate to- well balanced throughout with trebles that are deep and rich, mids that fill the room and that wonderful bass without overpowering boominess. No over brightness in the Jumbo OM body with a tonal palate that sits right between a D-41 and OM-42.

Overall a great full sound. And the case... crazy. Factory photos.

That's a great guitar. No cringe here. I think you have a good handle on the tone. I believe Dana has worked hard to build on the Martin sound. The quality of his builds and richness of the tone is superb. Congratulations on a terrific NGD.

IMO the JOM is the best "oversized" OM available. That being said...I've not had the opportunity to play the SCGC OM Grande? My guess would be similar shades of great! Congrats Steve...it's a beauty.

Had a Pre-Pantheon JOMC Cedar/EIR I bought used and should have kept?

Looking at your comment regarding Martin, there should be no surprise with the tonal connection between Borgeois and Martin, especially with the OM model given Dana's history, which is found here: http://bourgeoisguitars.net/about/our-story/

"Dana and Schoenberg struck a deal with C.F. Martin and Co. and the renowned Schoenberg Guitar was born. The Schoenberg led to the reintroduction of the OM model into Martin’s own regular line. Today, the OM is offered by most builders and trails only the dreadnought in popularity."

There shouldn't be but....... you know how it goes. Some people want to stay far away from the big M but purchase Bourgeois, Collings and other ... similar style/sound guitars. Others want to be as close as possible. Either and both are fine. For me, replicating or even enhancing the Martin experience, regardless of name on the headstock, is a plus.

Love it! And it should get even deeper and lusher in musical years ahead. Love their necks. Someday I will get another Maine guitar.
( My parents are both born and raised in Maine. ) Enjoy!

Default Bourgeois

Love Bourgeois guitars. Own three. Two 00's and one OM. They are as good as my Ryan parlor and Olson SJ. rather late in discovering Bourgeois.
