Thumbs up NGD Ryan Cathedral Grand Fingerstyle Guitar

Well as some may know I bought a killer Ryan Nightingale back in March and I was so blown away by it that I started imagining what the Cathedral must sound like. I'm a huge fan of large instruments and the Ryan Cathedral feels like the ultimate jumbo. I had been torn between a Petros Jumbo which are as rare as they come and leads you to buying new only pretty much or ordering a new Cathedral. Both were very pricey options but felt like getting the ultimate jumbo fingerstyle guitar. I had priced out what I wanted in a new Ryan Cathedral several times and I saw Guitar Gallery had a used older Brazilian Rosewood and Caspian Spruce Cathedral for close to the new price of a fully loaded non Brazilian Cathedral and I decided to sell of a bunch of gear and pull the trigger.

Anyway this killer Ryan came in yesterday afternoon and I left work a bit early to go home and check it out. I'm very pleased with my decision!!! It is by far the most expensive acoustic I've purchased but in every way its a dream guitar for me.

I noticed that the guitar has the same richness and power in the mids and highs as my Nightingale but the Bass is more enveloping and huge sounding. It also takes a pick much better than I ever thought and sounds killer strummed as well. The tone is out of this world!!!!!!!!

Here's a video I recorded of it so you can hear it.

Here's a link to the Guitar Gallery Listing, their pictures and video are better than I can do but I'll probably post my own video as well over the week end here.

Beautiful guitar!

The shape is very unique. It has a very high waste.

I wonder if that makes it more or less comfortable to play. I've always struggled with jumbo bodies...that's why I sold my LKSM-12.

Congrats bobby! Another cathedral owner here. Nothing like that thick cavernous bass!

Very nice. Gotta love the rich look of Braz. The bearclaw spruce is a bonus.

That is a very nice guitar, I owned a MGC at one time but ended up selling it to buy another guitar. I would like to own another Ryan and like you I think the large body guitars are cool. Update us in a few months when the NGD feeling has passed.

My thoughts exactly...and I've wrestled with selling my LKSM-12 for the same reason. This body shape is very unique and kind of looks like a pregnant mini-jumbo to me!

Congrats on a stellar instrument. I can't wait to hear what this sounds like.
