Top Crack on Cedar Webber RB, do I still buy?
I'm looking at a Webber Cedar/Mah roundbody, but it has a repaired top crack. The store is selling is at $1,900. Seems a little steep for a top cracked body, even with the original price being around assumedly 2,700. I will be buying offline (with a 7 day full refund return option).
Resale value isn't a variable in this. But, since Cedar is such a soft wood, I worry that the crack, even repaired, could cause longevity issues? After some research, it doesn't seem like tone is a factor in a problem like this though. I hear really great things about Webber, and for finger style, I hear he make some of the best. My other choice is a Breedlove MasterClass OOO-12, Adi T/Mah BS. 25.5" scale. I'm a finger picker. I've already got a BL Revivial Adi/RS Custom OM that is to die for, hence my leaning towards another BL. Thoughts? |

Far too high. Assuming a stable repair probably around $4-5 less. Make an offer. |

I have owned 2 Webbers and met with David in Vancouver when I custom ordered a OO. Very nice guy and his guitars are great. I think you should keep looking for a Webber without a crack and you can find one on this forum if your patient for less money I think. Good luck.
