Ashvin, it would seem your main competition couldn't build them that cheaply either.

The only difference from the test market is the name. It will be called The Studio Series (as opposed to Hybrid Studio Series) and will have a prefix of S- (as opposed to HS-). This change was made based on customer feedback about confusion with The Hybrid Series.

I also invite anyone that is at NAMM to stop by our booth (Hall E, #1618).

The Studio series features a woven soundboard, the same top (actually the same overall construction) as the Hybrid Series (see H-WS1000N2). The body construction uses a combination of Carbon and Glass fiber. Glass is not as stiff as Carbon and tends to mellow the brightness of the Carbon tone.

Having said this, I would also like to state that RainSongs share a signature tone and each Series tends to emphasize a different attribute of this tone.
Ashvin,

I am curious why they do not use the Carbon and Glass on the soundboard, as this is where a majority of the sound resonates from, not the b/s??

Hi Lisa:

By "body" I mean Soundboard, back and sides. However, the use of glass on the soundboard is very limited. This has a lot to do with strength. Glass is nowhere as strong as carbon, and extensive use of glass on the soundboard would either cause the soundboard to buckle, and/or become excessively heavy.

Ashvin, thanks for all the input into this thread. I'm a proud owner of a WS1000 and very interested in new Rainsong models. I, too, would be very interested in a travel guitar, but more so in a short scale, slot head model.

Just ordered a HS-DR1000N2 Hybrid Studio Dreadnought from Tarpman. Looking forward to it. I really like the spartan look of unfinished, matte carbon. I don't really like the gloss finished models. I almost pulled the trigger on a CA Legacy Raw this time last year and glad I waited, seeing what has happened to CA in the past year and now the availability of a comparable Rainsong model. Looking forward to getting it in a week and really enjoying it as a great stage guitar that I won't have to worry so much about dinging it up or leaving it in the car for an hour or so if necessary.
