The dark head plate does tie in the neck to the body. A dark center stripe down the back would be perfect!

The backstrap makes it work for me as-is.
I also agree with an earlier post about the bindings, Woody. I know that's not what you're polling about here though. Best wishes; the guitar looks great as you have it. So... I voted "as-is" but does that negate having a "pizza?" Pepperoni or eggplant, please.

Judging from the poll results as of my vote, it is just about 50/50. For MY taste, I would like it darker. But it's by no means a deal breaker, and really comes down to preference. Bruce has a really good point as well.

I voted for a darker neck. I think it has too many things going on and doesn't look like a coherent work with the light neck (dark rosewood, light neck, white binding). If your binding matched the color of the neck or body woods more closely, I think it would look fine with a light neck.

I say leave it be. If that neck is mahogany then it will darken naturally a bit in the the first few years. I still won't match but the contrast won't be as great. At least that's how it was with my Larrivee OM-03R which has a hog neck and rosewood back & sides.

OK, only because nobody has said it: I think the body should be lighter!
Actually, I agree with the posts about matching the binding, or vice-versa. It still looks mighty tasty though!

Quote:
It's ironic to me that several people have mentioned the color of the binding. The binding is the same that's used on 28 and 35 series Rosewood Martins, and 8xx and xx8 Rosewood Taylors. I suspect the big difference is the Rosewood I used is darker than most of the Martins and Taylors. The ironic part is darker straight grained Rosewood like this is more expensive/ higher graded that what people are used to seeing on most of those guitars. I'm going to leave the neck alone. Several people have mentioned that the light colored Mahogany looks good with the Rosewood backstrap and heel cap.

Should that neck be darker? Well, you'd have to as the maker.
"Hey, God! Did you make a mistake on the color of that piece of wood? Eh?"
